What to make with leftover flour?
I need to finish up all my food–I have leftover flour, eggs, and sugar, but no milk or butter! Is there anything I can make to use them up? Or will the flour/sugar be all right in storage for a month (I’ve already opened the bags) if I put them in sealed ziploc bags?
Note–can’t refrigerate anything cuz I’m leaving stuff in a storage locker. Will flour keep unfrozen/unrefrigerated?
You can keep flour and sugar in air tight containers for up to a year. All you have to do is keep the moisture out of it. Flour stores well in the freezer for even longer. If you’re not sure about the flour after its been stored, taste it! Just moisten your fingertip, dip it in the flour, and pop it in your mouth. If the flour has a funny off taste, toss it out then. You can also freeze the eggs. Just beat them one or two at a time like you would for scrambled eggs and then put them in plastic gladware (or similar) containers. Take them out the night before you want to use them and let them defrost in the refrigerator. You can bake with them or use them for omelets, French toast, etc.
