Do plastics in food storage containers absorb dish detergent?
Anytime I microwave food in a plastic container or glass container with a plastic lid…there is this hint of chemical flavor?
My theory is the detegent used for dish washing is absorbed into these plastics and when heated, are discipated into the food. Maybe I over think these things.
I wouldn’t think it is the soap. A plastic product is going to have some out-gassing. Think of brand new vinyl boots/anything right out of the box. The microwave excites the molecules of whatever is being heated. So some of them will likely leech out. but the plastic is inert to detergents.
