COMMERCIAL FOOD STORAGE BAGS

I Recently Heard Of A Grocery In Europe That Caters To Our Set…?
They have portions that do not require commercial food storage when you get it home.
This is a concept which escapes the markets here. For example, I just brought home the smallest piece of water melon available. I will be floating on by you all at any moment.
Why can’t they get it through their pointy little heads that I don’t need a 3 lb. bag of cherries? Crimony!
It has occured to me that I never actually posed a question. Really all I did was rant. So here goes.
What do you think we can do to influence our markets [where ever you are] to find it feasible to portion the products they sell in smaller more user friendly sizes?
South of where I live, there is a strip of roadway that is home to seniors apartment houses and townhouses. Two blocks in all. The only grocery store in the area is situated between my home and those. YEARS ago they got the idea that seniors don’t want to buy large economy packs of meats and prepared foods, so started ordering packages of single or double serving sized meats, etc.
The fruits and vegetables have always been bag your own, so the senior can buy however little they want.
And just recently, they have added a “hot food” section, where they prepare rotisserie chicken and wings and ribs and sell these at reasonable prices. The woman that runs that section says that they’re a real hit with seniors.
I know that in the U.S., it is not at all unusual to be able to buy a whole home cooked meal right out of the grocery store as well (although I have never seen these in Canada–I can imagine they have this out west).
I think it is too bad that England has to be so far behind us.
